In this suggestibility test, a hypnotist request a subject to outstretch both arms in front of them. One with a palm facing up, the other palm facing down. The hypnotist then suggest that one hand begins to fall or lower, as if under the load of something heavy. As that hand indeed begins to lower or fall, the hypnotist then suggests that the other hand begins to rise, or become lighter. Once this phenomenon occurs, the subject is asked to open their eyes without moving their hands. To their surprise, they find their body responded as if the suggestions were actually taking place.
